On April 12, 2012 at approximately 11:35 AM, Officers with the Violent Crime Apprehension Team  (VCAT) executed a search warrant at 1320 Randolph Street, Waterloo reference an ongoing weapons and narcotics investigation.

Officers had to force entry into the residence after the occupants refused to open the door after the Officers knocked and announced their presence. During the course of the search warrant, Officers located two firearms, a Springfield Armory .45-caliber handgun with the serial number scratched off and a Jennings Firearms 9mm handgun. Both firearms were fully loaded with ammunition.

Officers also seized a large amount of crack cocaine, powder cocaine and marijuana. Also inside the residence were two young children, ages 2 and 3. VCAT Officers were assisted by the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force, Waterloo Police Patrol, and the Waterloo Police K-9 Unit.

Donald Benjamin Earl Reed, age 27, of 1320 Randolph, Waterloo, IA was charged with:
Possession of Crack Cocaine w/ Intent to Deliver more than 10 grams while in immediate possession of a firearm (B-Felony)
Drug Tax Stamp
Possession of Firearm as a Felon
Possession of Cocaine
Possession of Marijuana
Child Endangerment X2

Alicia Latrice Buchanan, age 24, of 307 Adams Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with:
Possession of Firearm as a Felon
Possession of Marijuana
Child Endangerment X2
