Patch

Shortly after midnight, on May 18th, 2012, the Waterloo Police Department received a request for assistance from the Benton County Sheriff's Office.  This was in reference to their agency looking for multiple suspects from a home invasion, which had occurred in their county, where shots were fired.  The Benton County Sheriff's Office was looking for five suspects that were traveling in a red, newer model, Chevrolet Cobalt.  The Benton County Sheriff's Office had information that these suspects were possibly headed to the Waterloo area.

At about 0047 hrs., Officers observed a vehicle matching that description in the area of E. 11th Street and Lafayette Street.  Officers initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle, and one of the occupants attempted to flee on foot.  After a short foot pursuit, that suspect was apprehended.  All four other occupants in the vehicle were detained.

It was then learned that all five occupants were believed to have been involved in the home invasion in Benton County.  All suspects were turned over to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.  No names will be released at this time, as this in an ongoing investigation.
