Thursday, 16 August 2012 08:33

On Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at approximately 12:30 PM, Officer Adam Galbraith stopped in the 800 block of W.2nd Street to investigate an illegally parked car. When he looked in the car he saw a baby boy in a car seat. The windows in the car where rolled up and the baby was covered in sweat. The baby's skin was very red and he was gasping for air. Officer Galbraith immediately got the baby out of the car and called for medical assistance.

Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived, treated the baby and transported him to a local hospital. Officers located the mother about 30 minutes later in an apartment building nearby. The mother, Shawna Raeann Bailey, age 24, of 439 Vermont Street, Waterloo, IA was charged with Child Endangerment.
