On Friday October 19, 2012 at approximately 2:30 AM Waterloo Officers responded to the report of shots fired in the 400 block of Lane St.  During the investigation Officers located evidence of a shooting at the scene and eventually met with a shooting victim at Allen Hospital identified as twenty-nine-year-old Shauntez Dewand Coffer of Waterloo.  Coffer had two non-life threatening gunshot wounds to his upper torso. 

Officers eventually located a suspect in the shooting during a traffic stop in the area of Ansborough Ave and Downing Ave.  The suspect was identified as thirty-year-old Amos Dee Deering of Waterloo.  Officers also located a .25 caliber handgun and a quantity of crack cocaine during the investigation. 

Amos Deering was charged with several felonies including, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, willful injury, felon in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to deliver crack cocaine.  Deering was also charged with misdemeanors for OWI and Driving While License Suspended.  Deering was booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
