On Friday November 2, 2012 at approximately 2316hrs Waterloo Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 200 block of Broadway.  Waterloo Patrol Officers and Officers with the Violent Crime Apprehension Team responded and located a suspect in the area on Edwards St.  The suspect was identified as thirty-year-old Thadeus Southall of Evansdale Iowa.  Southall refused to comply with orders to get on the ground when Officers made contact with him.  Southall was eventually taken into custody after a short struggle. Officers found Southall in the possession of a 9mm semi-auto handgun and a quantity of marijuana. 

During the investigation, Officers learned Southall had assaulted another male at City Food and Liquor in the 200 block of Broadway St.  Southall then displayed the handgun and fired a round into a vehicle that was occupied by other subjects.  Southall was charged with several felonies including intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, interference with official acts involving a firearm and possession with intent to deliver marijuana.  Southall was also charged with misdemeanor charges for assault on a peace officer and interference with official acts.  Southall is currently being held at the Black Hawk County Jail.
