On January 25, 2013 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crime Apprehension Team conducted a traffic stop in the area of Edwards/Logan Ave. reference an equipment violation.  The driver was identified as thirty-six year old Torrie Newton and the front passenger was identified as forty-five year old Devonner Coleman, both of Waterloo.  During the investigation Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located a loaded Colt semi-auto .380 handgun concealed in the area where Coleman was seated.  Officers later conducted a search warrant at Coleman's residence.  Coleman was charged with carrying weapons and Newton was charged with aiding and abetting carrying weapons.  Both suspects were booked at the Black Hawk County Jail on that date.
