Waterloo Police capture escaped Inmate from West Union Facility after pursuit with stolen vehicle.

On Sunday, September 15, 2013 at approximately 00:48 AM, Waterloo Police attempted to stop a silver GMC pickup on Hwy 218 at Mitchell Avenue after the pickup made an illegal turn and nearly struck a squad car at the intersection. The driver did not stop and led Officers on a short pursuit on Hwy 218 to Bluff Street where the pursuit ended when the pickup entered the construction site near northbound lower Washington and W. 3rd. The driver of the vehicle fled and was captured after a short foot pursuit. The driver was identified as Bryan Anthony Keller (35yo) who was listed as an escaped inmate from the West Union Correctional Facility. The vehicle was found to have been reported stolen from a West Union business. Keller was transported to the Black Hawk County Jail and booked on warrants from the Iowa Department of Corrections in regards to his escape from the West Union Work Release Facility. Waterloo Police also filed charges stemming from the pursuit, including; Felony Eluding, Reckless Driving, Driving while license suspended and Theft 2nd.   Two other individuals in the vehicle were detained but later released.
