On Wednesday September 18, 2013 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department’s Violent Crime Apprehension Team recovered two handguns during a traffic stop in the area of Logan Avenue and Conger Street.

Officers stopped a vehicle around 3:15 p.m. reference a traffic violation. Officers made contact with the driver identified as seventeen-year-old Nathaniel Taylor Matlock and the passenger identified as nineteen-year-old James Edward Horton, both of Waterloo.

During the investigation a K9 was deployed and a search of the vehicle was conducted. At that time, Officers recovered a loaded .25 semi-auto handgun under Matlock’s seat and a loaded .22 caliber revolver under Horton’s seat. Matlock and Horton were taken into custody for carrying weapons and booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
