Waterloo Police Department Chief of Police Thomas J. Jennings is pleased to announce that Officer Gregory Kemp has been selected as the Waterloo Exchange Club's 2008 Officer of the Year.  Officer Kemp will be honored at the Exchange Club's noon luncheon on Monday, February 9, 2009.

Officer Kemp, age 42, with over seven-years of service with the Waterloo Police Department, is a 1999 graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.  Officer Kemp is assigned to the Watch II Patrol Division and is one of the department's Field Training Officers.  Officer Kemp is also an active member of the United States Army Reserve with over twenty-years of service.

Officer Kemp's selection as Officer of the Year reflects well on his professional ability, exceptional performance and dedication to the Waterloo Police Department and the citizens he serves.

Officer Kemp's peers and supervisors describe him as a dedicated individual who possesses a positive attitude and a great work ethic.  Officer Kemp's supervisors are particularly impressed with the great job he is doing as a Field Training Officer, where he is tasked with training and mentoring new officers.

Members of the media are invited to attend the Waterloo Exchange Club's presentation on Monday, February 9, 2009 at noon, at the Elks Club, 407 East Park Avenue in Waterloo.
