Waterloo Police investigate motor vehicle rollover accident

On Saturday, September 24, 2011, at about 12:27pm, Waterloo Police Officers and Waterloo Fire/Rescue responded to a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred at the intersection of Broadway St and Conger St.

Witnesses at the scene said that they saw red Ford F-250 truck traveling east on Broadway St at what they said was a high rate of speed.  This vehicle then crossed the center line of Broadway St and struck the side of the New Hope Baptist Church located at 710 Broadway St.  The vehicle glanced off the side of the building and struck the traffic light pole and a fire hydrant located at the intersection of Broadway St and Conger St.  The vehicle then rolled, coming to rest on its top.

Waterloo Fire/Rescue personnel removed the driver from the vehicle and he was transported to Allen Hospital for treatment of what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.  The driver's identification, as well as the identification of the owner of the vehicle are not being released at this time.

This accident is still under investigation.
