Patch

Recently, the communities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls have had several churches broken into and items taken.  Area police are asking that churches take extra precautions to prevent further thefts.

Be aware of your surroundings.

Keep doors locked when they are not being monitored. Keep all areas well lit.

After church services or other activities, make sure everyone has left the building before locking up. Your personal safety and the safety of others are paramount. If you should encounter someone in the building, call the police and be a good witness.

Lock up all electronic devices and other items of value. Don't become an easy target.

Do not leave large sums of money in the church. Initiate a plan to get the church collection to a financial institution as soon as possible.

Please contact your local law enforcement agency if you have any questions or concerns.
