Waterloo Police Investigate Homicide

Wednesday, May 2, 2012 Waterloo Police responded to a 911
call from a woman who said she had been shot. The call was placed just before
7pm from 704 Newell Street. Responding Officers located two female victims at
the residence who were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victims were identified as 59 year old Kay France Straw
and her daughter 33 year old Marlene Lynn Buss. Both victims resided at 704
Newell. Straw was transported by Waterloo Fire Rescue to Allen Memorial
Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled at the
DCI Criminalist Laboratory in Ankeny.

Buss is being treated at an undisclosed location for her injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
