On Thursday, May 3, 2012, Waterloo Police surrounded 719 W.5th Street and took 33- year old Kevin Deshay Ambrose into custody ona Felony Warrant for a Parole Violation of Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

Police had been looking for Ambrose in connection to the shooting of 59-year-old Kay France Straw and her daughter, 33-year-old Marlene Lynn Buss at 704 Newell Street. Buss and Ambrose had been residing together at the Newell Street address prior to Ambrose being served with a No Contact Order on May 2, 2012.

During the investigation into the shooting Officers developed information that Ambrose was at 719 W.5th Street. The Waterloo Tactical Team was deployed to the area and surrounded the residence. Ambrose was located and taken into custody without incident.

The Waterloo Police Department was assisted by members of the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
