On Monday, October 29, 2012 Waterloo Police Officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident roll over in the 300 block of San Marnan Drive. Witnesses advised responding officers that the driver/occupant left the scene on foot and climed over a nearby fence. It was additionally learned that the vehicle involved in the accident was reported stolen out of Minneapolis, Minnesota and the possible driver was wanted for questioning involving a double homicide in Minneapolis.

Waterloo Officers began checking the area and located the driver/suspect in the 500 block of Olympic Drive. He was taken into custody and identified as 21-year old Ishmael Roberts of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Roberts was transported to the Waterloo Police Department for questioning. Roberts was later booked at the Black Hawk County jail on charges of Leaving the Scene of an accident, Failure to maintain control, Interference with Official Acts and Theft 2nd.

Law enforcement authorities in Minneapolis were contacted and came to Waterloo to continue follow up into their homicide investigation. Waterloo Police are assisting the Minneapolis authorities. Ishmael Roberts is currently being held in the Black Hawk County jail.
