Man drowns at George Wyth

On Sunday, July 7, 2013 at approximately 5:12 PM, Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were dispatched to George Wyth State Park, 2659 Wyth Road, Waterloo on report of a drowning.

Witnesses reported that a male had been swimming at the beach with friends and family when they noticed him missing. No one witnessed him go under the water. The victim, Salvador Quinto Amezcua, age 32, of Waterloo, was found under water a short time later. He was transported to Allen Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
