On Sunday, July 7, 2013 at approximately 11:39 PM, Waterloo Police were dispatched to Long John Silvers, 2775 Crossroads Boulevard, on report of a robbery. Officers met with the victim and several witnesses.

The victim, Derrick Olmstead, age 18, of Waterloo stated that he was in the parking lot getting into his car when two males approached him and demanded money. One of the males had a handgun. They assaulted the victim and took his cell phone and cigarettes. The suspects were last seen running west from the store. The suspects were a white male and black male, both wearing ski masks.

The victim was taken to Covenant Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
