Shortly before 2am Sunday, October 19, 2014 Waterloo Police responded to a report of a female being shot at 520 Elm Street in Waterloo. The responding Officers located a female who was later identified as 17 year old Jazzmine Rembert in a basement area of the residence.  Rembert appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was unresponsive. Waterloo Fire Rescue determined Rembert was deceased at the scene. During the investigation into the incident 18 year old Quaderious Spates was taken into custody and booked at the Black Hawk County jail on  charges of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon and Trafficking Stolen Weapons.  An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny Monday.  This is an ongoing investigation and no further information or photos are being released at this time.
