On Monday, March 23, 2015 at about 8:07 PM the Waterloo Police Department responded to 201 Allen Street on a report that a female was being assaulted by her husband who was armed with a knife and threatening to kill her.  

Upon officer’s arrival the female, Angelia O’Connell, age 40, was located inside the apartment with multiple stab wounds and bleeding profusely. The suspect, Reuben A. Stigler, age 50, was also still inside the apartment.

O’Connell was transported to Covenant Medical Center Emergency Department by Waterloo Fire Rescue and was taken to surgery shortly after for life threatening injuries. O’Connell is now out of surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Reuben A. Stigler was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Serious Injury, Going Armed with Intent, Assault Domestic Abuse Aggravated and False Imprisonment.
