Patch

On March 31st, 2015 at about 9:57 P.M. a vehicle that was being driven by Brian Joseph Lavenz, age 37, arrived at 918 E 9th Street, where the Tri-County Drug Task Force was executing a search warrant.

Lavenz quickly left the residence as officers attempted to stop him as part of an ongoing investigation. Lavenz refused to stop for emergency vehicles and led officers on a pursuit throughout Waterloo and Evansdale. Early in the pursuit Officers deployed stop sticks which reduced Lavenz vehicle speed. Lavenz still refused to stop until his vehicle was completely disabled.  After the stop Lavenz continued to resist and a Taser was deployed.   Lavenz was taken into custody and transported to Allen Hospital as a precaution for ingesting narcotics.   Charges are pending his release for Allen Hospital.

The Waterloo Police Department was assisted by the Evansdale Police Department, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
