Preliminary Press Release

On Friday, January 1st, 2016 at 1:49 AM Officers of the Waterloo Police Department were sent to 229 E. 4th Street on a call from the business that no one was leaving the bar.   Several Officers responded to the business.   While at the scene Officers walking the area noticed several people gathering in the partial alley between Lafayette and Sycamore east of the 200 blk of E. 4th. 

As Officers approached this group they heard several shots being fired within the group and the crowd in alley immediately began to run from the area.   As these subjects cleared the area one victim remained with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.    This victim was transported by Waterloo Fire to Allen Hospital.  

During this incident an officer from the Waterloo Police Department fired one round at an armed subject, this shot missed and the subject fled on foot.   Officers chased and apprehended several armed subjects in the area.  The investigation of those subjects involvement in this incident is currently under investigation.  

 

**Update as of 1/1/16 @ 1415hrs**

As a result of the investigation of the shooting behind Club 319 located at 229 E. 4th St, Waterloo, the following subjects were identified.   The victim was identified as Ramarez Maurice Gary, 31 years old, of Waterloo.   Gary was found to have gunshot wounds to his leg which resulted in him being treated at Allen Memorial Hospital.  His injuries are non-life threatening.

Three armed subjects that were located leaving the scene during the shooting were identified and charged with the following.

Kristopher Darquel Spates Jr., 22 years old of Waterloo and was charged with Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying Weapons, Going Armed with Intent, and Interference with Official Acts.

Davion Everette Madlock, 16 years old of Waterloo, and was charged with Carrying Weapons.

Doncorrion Deangelo Spates, 15 years old of Waterloo, and was charged with Carrying Weapons.
