Patch

On Tuesday, September 20th at 11:46 P.M., Waterloo Police Officers were dispatched to 2202 Westview Ave for a burglary in progress. Officers were advised by a witness that three black males were seen leaving the residence and getting into a black Ford Fusion with an Iowa license plate. Officers were advised by the witness that an elderly female lives at the residence and that the side door was standing open. Officers arrived at the scene and determined that the house had been burglarized while the elderly female, unharmed, was sleeping. They discovered that a window screen had been burnt by a pocket torch and the window had been broken out to get inside the residence.

With the witness giving a good vehicle description along with the license plate number, the suspect vehicle was located at Dawson and Avon within minutes and a vehicle traffic stop was initiated. A search of the vehicle and the suspects resulted in the recovery of items that were stolen from the residence.

As a result of the investigation the three black males ages 16, 16, and 17, were charged with Burglary 2nd degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, and Reckless Use of Fire or Explosive.

This incident remains under investigation and no additional information is being released at this time.
