Patch

Chief Thomas J. Jennings is pleased to announce that the Waterloo Police Department has joined the national alert network "A Child is Missing" designed to alert citizens via telephone when a child, an elderly person or a disabled person goes missing.

When a subject is reported missing, the Police Department is able to contact "A Child is Missing" staff, who will use a computerized phone system to call citizens in the area to give them the alert. The phone system is able to make up to 1,000 calls within 60 seconds.

The alert message will describe the missing subject, where they were last seen and the telephone number to call in order to reach law enforcement.

Community members who wish to receive these alerts can sign up at www.achildismissing.org.
