Patch

Waterloo Police have charged Rashadd Cortez Wright, age 20, of  331 Halstead Street, Waterloo with Robbery in the First Degree in connection with the home invasion at 119 Conger Street. He is being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.

The victim, Marquavias Hughes, was at 119 Conger Street when two black males armed with handguns entered the house and demanded money. Two females were also in the house when the suspects forced their way in. One of the females was able to run out the front door and flag down a police officer who was driving in the area.

The officer saw several suspects fleeing from the house and pursued after them. Wright was arrested a short time later hiding under a trailer. As other officers arrived in the area, another suspect tried to flee in a vehicle and was shot by an officer as he rammed a squad car. That suspect is being treated at a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Investigation into the home invasion continues.
