On March 15, 2011 around 7:53 pm, officers were called to the First Street Bridge, in Waterloo, for a head-on traffic collision. Officers found Mark Johnston, of 2520 W. 8^thStreet, Waterloo, was in a Jeep Grand Cherokee that traveled southbound on the First Street Bridge. His vehicle collided with a northbound semi-tractor trailer driven by Michael Scienski of Minnesota. Johnston was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The collision is still under investigation.
