Patch

Shortly before 5pm today, a Waterloo Citizen found a suspicious looking Military Shell, sitting along the south edge of the Cedar River between the 6th Street and 11th Street Bridge.

The Waterloo Police Department called in their bomb squad so they could examine the device. At approximately 9:50pm, bomb squad officers were able to neutralize the shell by destroying it place.

If you were in or around the downtown area of Waterlooo at this time, and heard a loud explosion, it was from the charge that the officers placed on this military shell.
