On Tuesday September 20, 2011 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team took twenty-five -year-old Deshone "Chucky" Outlaw into custody on gun charges.  Officers obtained arrest warrants for Outlaw in regard to an incident that occurred on August 12, 2011 in the area of Chestnut/Logan Ave.  On that date Officers attempted to make contact with a group of subjects reference an investigation.  During such time one of the subjects led Officers on a foot pursuit.  Officers were alerted that one of the other subjects in the group concealed a handgun under a vehicle during the incident.  A stolen 9mm semi-auto handgun was recovered at the scene.

Deshone Outlaw was identified as the suspect and Officers later viewed video from a parked patrol car showing Outlaw concealing the gun.   Other witnesses also confirmed this.  Outlaw was charged with felon in possession of a firearm, carrying weapons and interfernece with official acts.  Outlaw was also booked on a parole violation warrant stemming from a 2005 shooting he was involved in.  He is currently being held at the Black Hawk County Jail with no bond.
