On Sunday September 25, 2011 Officers with the Waterloo Police Department's Violent Crimes Apprehension Team located a semi-auto handgun during a traffic stop.  At approximately 0116hrs Officers conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in area of Locust St and West 1st St. in regard to a traffic violation.  Officers detected an odor of marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle.  During a search of the vehicle Officers located a loaded .22 caliber handgun inside the vehicle.  During the investigation Officers took 19 year old Mitchell Berry into custody.  Berry was the registered owner of the vehicle and witnesses identified Berry as being in possession of the handgun.  Berry was booked into the black Hawk County Jail for carrying weapons.
