Waterloo Man Dies After Fall From Bicycle

On Tuesday, September 22, 2009 around 11:30 am, Waterloo Police officers and Waterloo Fire Rescue paramedics responded to the 200 block of lower Washington Street on the report of a man injured in a bicycle accident.

A witness told officers that the man was riding his bicycle through the parking lot of the Bridges Retirement Community at 214 Washington Street when he hit a curb and was thrown from the bicycle to the sidewalk, which was some three to four feet below the parking lot.  The man, a Waterloo resident whose name will not be released at this time, sustained severe head trauma and died at the scene.  He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

No foul play is suspected and officers continue to investigate this incident.  No more information will be released at this time.
