Subject Charged in Bike Trail Stabbing

On 3/19/12, Officers were dispatched to the bike trails in George Wyth State Park in reference to a female jogger that had been stabbed. The victim was able to escape and get help.  Through a cooperative effort with the Waterloo Police Dept., Cedar Falls Police Dept., and the Blackhawk County Sheriff's Office, a suspect, matching the description from the victim, was detained a short distance from the scene with a knife.  This suspect was identified as Blake Andrew Houser, WM, DOB-5/6/92 of Waterloo.  Through a subsequent investigation and interview, the suspect was charged with Willful Injury, Carrying Weapons and Going Armed with Intent.  The suspect was also charged with Going Armed with Intent, Assault while Displaying Dangerous Weapon, Assault with Intent, and Carrying Weapons for an assault that ocurred in 2011 along the bicycle trail adjacent to Hwy. 63 and Martin Rd. in Waterloo.
