November 17, 2020-Victim Name Released

On Saturday, November 14th, 2020 at 12:12 AM Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Deputies heard gunshots in the area of Edison Street and Grandview Avenue, in Waterloo.   As Waterloo Police Officers arrived in the area they located a 27 year old female suffering from a gunshot wound inside of 723 Dawson Street, Waterloo.   The victim was taken to Unity Point Hospital (Allen) where she died as the result of her injuries.   The victim was identified as Jada J. Young-Mills age 27 of Waterloo.

The investigation into this matter led to the arrest of Lasondra A. Johnson age 36 for 1st Degree Murder.   Johnson is currently in the Black Hawk County Jail.

This remains an active ongoing investigation and we ask that anyone with information regarding this incident contact the Water loo Police Department.

 

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
