Drowning Victim Identified

On Friday June 10, 2022 at approximately 6:29 PM Waterloo Police and Fire Rescue responded to a report of a person in the Cedar River.  Dispatch had taken a report of a Hispanic male entering the river, leaving a shirt behind on the water’s edge.  Waterloo Fire Rescue began a search and rescue operation, but did not locate anyone.   Waterloo Fire Rescue deployed boats again on Monday June 13 in the Cedar River to continue their efforts in locating the possible drowning victim.  At approximately 2:14 PM Fire Rescue called in a location of a body they had found in the Cedar River.  The body was recovered and sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.  An autopsy was completed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office and it was determined that the male identified as 25 yrs. old Miguel Angel Reyes-Guzman had drowned.
