Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit

On March 2, 2010 at approximately 2:21 AM, Waterloo Police Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Broadway Street in the area of Conger. After a short vehicle pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle in the 400 block of E. 4th, struck a tree in Lincoln Park and rolled the car onto it's top. The driver then fled on foot and was taken into custody a short distance away.

The driver was identified as Deshawn Harrington, age 19, of Waterloo. Due to the severity of accident, Harrington was examined for injuries at an area hospital and released without need of treatment. Harrington was charged with the following:

Felony Eluding
Reckless Driving
2 counts of Driving While Revoked
Driving While Suspended
Interference Causing Injury
Multiple Moving Violations
Additional charges are pending further investigation.

Harrington is currently being held in the Black Hawk County Jail.
