The Waterloo Police Department would like to alert the public about a telephone scam that has been occurring in the Waterloo area on this date.  Several local businesses have received telephone calls from people who have fraudulently identified themselves as Mid-American Energy employees.

The callers advised that the business did not pay their Mid-American Bill and power would be shut off in short amount of time unless they received some type of a payment over the phone.

MidAmerican Energy does not operate in this manner and have no knowledge of these telephone calls. If someone has a question about their MidAmerican bills or Obligations, please contact MidAmerican Energy directly.
