Waterloo Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash

On Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at 11:55 a.m., Waterloo Fire Rescue personnel and Waterloo Police officers responded to the 2100 block of Logan Avenue on the report of a personal injury traffic crash. During the course of the investigation officers learned the following.

Robert Richardson, age 68, of 7147 Pioneer Drive in Cedar Falls was traveling southbound in the 2100 block of Logan Avenue when a northbound vehicle turned left in front of him. The northbound vehicle was driven by Charles Shepard, age 82, of 307 Reed Street in Waterloo. Also in Shepard’s vehicle at the time was Shepard’s 81-year-old wife, Marjorie Shepard, who was the front seat passenger. Richardson’s vehicle then crashed into the passenger’s side of Shepard’s vehicle.

Waterloo Fire Rescue Paramedics transported Marjorie Shepard to Allen Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Waterloo Fire Rescue Paramedics also transported Charles Shepard and Robert Richardson to Allen Memorial Hospital where they are both listed in stable condition.

Waterloo Police officers continue their investigation.
