Arrest Made in Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident

June 12th, 2026
On May 20th, 2026, at approximately 9:18 p.m., Waterloo Police Officers and Waterloo Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 1000 block of San Marnan Drive for a report of a male lying in the roadway with apparent injuries.
Upon arrival, officers determined the male had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Waterloo Fire EMS and first responders attempted lifesaving measures; however, the victim was pronounced deceased by medical professionals. He was identified as 32-year-old Joshua Ehr of Waterloo.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives collected evidence and identified a suspect believed to have struck Ehr and left the scene. On June 12th, 2026, at approximately 1:03 a.m., Waterloo Police Detectives arrested 53-year-old Jodie Hill, of Waterloo, in connection with the incident. Hill was transported to the Black Hawk County Jail, where she is currently being held on the following charges:
• Knowingly Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death – Class C Felony
• False Report to a Public Entity – Simple Misdemeanor
• Driving While Suspended – Simple Misdemeanor
The Waterloo Police Department reminds the public that a criminal charge is merely an accusation. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
