Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

September 17th, 2026

On Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, at approximately 9:38 pm, Waterloo Police initiated a traffic stop in the 800 blk. of Sycamore Street, with a vehicle suspected to have been involved in a shots fired call.  As a result of the incident, an officer-involved shooting occurred.  The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has been called in to investigate the incident, and the officer has been placed on Critical Incident Leave.  All further press inquiries should be directed to the DCI.
