UPDATE – July 1st Fatality Victim Identified

On Wednesday, July 1st, 2026, at approximately 3:47 PM, Black Hawk County Consolidated Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash on Sergeant Road (HWY 63) near Freedom Lane in Waterloo.

Upon arrival, responding officers located a male rider who had been separated from the motorcycle during the crash. The rider was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The motorcycle operator has been identified as 43-year-old Marcus Porter of Waterloo. Preliminary investigation indicates that Porter was traveling northbound on Sergeant Road on a green 2001 Kawasaki ZX900 motorcycle when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the shoulder, and crashed into the median.
